Privacy
The short version: your location stays on your phone, there are no ads or trackers, and you can download or delete everything at any time.
Without an account
Your trip is saved in this browser only (local storage). Nothing about it is sent to us.
With an account
Signing in is by an emailed link; there is no password. We keep:
- your email address and sign-in sessions (a session cookie, nothing else);
- your trips and their places, notes, dates and bookings, and who you share them with;
- places you tick off and the ๐ or ๐ you gave them (the place and the day, not where you were or when in the day);
- if you turn on leave-by alerts: your browser's push address and the reminders queued for the next day or so;
- your settings.
Download everything and Delete account are in the account sheet. Deleting removes your account, your trips (for everyone on them), your visits and alert subscriptions at once; database backups age out within about nine weeks.
Your location
- Trip Mode follows your location on your device to work out which step you're on. The positions are never sent to us and no history is kept.
- Nearby picks ask our server about a point rounded to about 100 m. That point isn't stored, and it travels in the request body so it doesn't reach our web server's logs.
- Address lookups are handled the same way.
Nearby picks
When you tick a place off and say how it was, that counts toward Nearby picks for other travellers: only as totals per place, and only once three or more people have been. Nobody can see who went. Sharing is on by default; the switch in your account sheet turns it off and withdraws everything you've shared.
Who else is involved
| Service | What for | What it sees |
|---|---|---|
| OpenFreeMap | street-map tiles, when you zoom right in | your IP address and which map tiles your browser asks for |
| Your browser's push service (Google, Apple or Mozilla) | leave-by alerts, if you turn them on | the alert text, encrypted end to end where the browser supports it |
| Resend | sending sign-in emails | your email address and the sign-in link |
| Anthropic (Claude) | "Plan this day", only when you ask | the places, notes, hours and travel times for that day |
| ODPT (Tokyo public transport open data) | departure times | nothing about you: our server asks on your behalf |
Fonts and everything else are served from this site. There are no ads, no analytics and no third-party cookies. Our web server keeps routine request logs (IP address, the page asked for, the time) for security and troubleshooting.
